Scandinavian Minimalism - Our Design Philosophy

At Flattered, Scandinavian minimalism is a design philosophy that celebrates the beauty of simplicity and the importance of high-quality materials. It’s a way of life rooted in simplicity, functionality, and emphasis on high-quality craftsmanship.

Scandinavian minimalism prioritizes functionality in addition to its focus on simplicity. All our products are designed with a purpose in mind, emphasizing form, comfort, and usability, and with the mindset that they must be aesthetically appealing. We don’t want to compromise on that.

We encourage our customers to invest in our timeless products, which can become part of their permanent wardrobe and be used repeatedly to offset their environmental impact. This perspective on conscious consumption, combined with timeless design and exemplary craftsmanship, can change the habits of not just our customers but our industry as a whole.

That is Scandinavian Minimalism to us.

Comfort and Function

Balancing form and function is at the heart of our design philosophy, whether creating women’s leather goods or crafting shoes that blend style and comfort. Each piece is designed with practicality and elegance in mind, ensuring our products meet the demands of modern lifestyles.

For leather goods, we prioritize usability and aesthetics, offering styles that include laptop-friendly totes with smart organizational features and sleek clutches for evening wear. Durable yet versatile leathers are carefully selected, paired with thoughtful details like adjustable straps, lightweight constructions, and intuitive closures. Clean lines and subtle accents allow our bags to transition effortlessly across occasions. Practical innovations such as detachable pouches and convertible straps further enhance their functionality, making them ideal for both professional and personal use.

When it comes to shoes, we consider numerous factors to ensure comfort and functionality. For instance, the interaction between sole material and upper leather is critical. Soft leather requires a flexible sole that’s lightweight, while stiffer materials are paired with appropriately designed soles to maintain balance and wearability. We’ve developed soft upper constructions, working closely with manufacturers to skip stiff reinforcements, resulting in shoes that are more flexible and comfortable.

Recognizing that all feet are different, we regularly test internal fittings and are introducing fitting lunches to evaluate shoes on a variety of foot shapes. To enhance wearability, we include cushioned footbeds in all our designs, providing added comfort, especially in heeled shoes and boots.

By integrating innovative design with meticulous attention to comfort and practicality, we create timeless accessories and footwear that adapt seamlessly to both style and lifestyle needs.
